You can guess my excitement during Black Friday shopping this past weekend when I saw this display at White Oaks Mall...
Congrats on completing today's Junior Achievement program! We learned a lot about budgeting, income, business ethics and interview skills.
We will be starting presentations on THURSDAY NOV 24, so please make sure you are completed your powerpoint or trading cards by then. You will have one period on Monday morning with the laptops to complete your work and then we will be in the computer lab in the afternoon when you can print. On Wednesday we will be talking about some effective presentation techniques (using eye contact, pausing and gestures) to make presentations more effective and you will have the chance to practice your presentation. The outlines are attached below for reference :) Mike Wade provided a highly entertaining presentation today, sharing the important message that ANYONE can be a writer...even a muscular prison guard :)
A HUGE thank you goes out to Jo Percival, our visiting artist who was SUPER patient with us and taught us some great art techniques. I have seen a boost in confidence in many of you when faced with other art challenges. You CAN do art...and I have the proof... :)
Coding - yes computer coding - is starting to be introduced to students in Canadian schools. The Scratch program is free and is a wonderful tool for building your knowledge and skills in this area. The possibilities are endless, and the sooner you begin to learn coding, the more advanced you will become. My nephew is in pre-school and I've already uploaded the Scratch JR. APP to his iPad, so I believe in the value of this program. Many of you have expressed your interest in engineering and computer science, so this is a great opportunity to take advantage of! See the website below to register!
